Banana Bread Beer

I was hoping to review this beer a while ago as it is another one of my favorite bottled beers but I actually managed to drink them before taking any pictures of the bottles.
Brewed in the heart of England by Charles Wells, Banana Bread Beer uses the finest English ‘Challenger’ and ‘Goldings’ hops.
This is a [...]

My Cluster on eBay

Its kinda sad to see it happen, but it is a huge incentive to make it better when we get to Australia.
My 4 IBM Netfinity 5000 servers (shown bottom of pic) cost me £750 from eBay a few years ago - I payed extra to have their memory and processors upgraded so each server had [...]

Today Gurgi-Girl and myself officially got our tickets to Australia and we leave for our new life on April 19th, 2007!

New nodes for The IND-Network Cluster

Over the last couple of weeks I have been busying myself preparing 2 servers, one to take to Australia when Gurgi-Girl and myself emigrate and one to *hopefully* leave behind in the UK temporarily to take care of existing services and reduce downtime.
I set a few standards and goals that the servers needed to [...]

Happy 4th Birthday IND-Web.com

Well, I almost missed it… …and I definitely didn’t realise it had been 4 years since I started hosting services on The IND-Network Cluster!
It has been a very educational experience providing services for the general public and its something I plan to continue to do - even though my partner Gurgi-Girl and myself are [...]

McEwan’s Champion Ale

Our local Morrisons supermarket sells bottled beer (mix and match £5 for four), so I decided to have a taste of the strongest ales they had in stock.
At 7.3% alcohol by volume, McEwans Champion Ale was indeed the strongest 500ml bottle on their shelves.
(3.7 UK Units per bottle - Please drink responsibly)
This is the ultimate [...]

Ubuntu Desktop

A friend of mine got himself a new laptop for Xmas, quite a nice one at a good price and after a couple of months of running Windows XP on his 1.4Ghz (or something) on his CPU, he noticed things getting painfully slow.
His DVD playback was noticeably suffering with frames occasionally skipping and the sound [...]

Testing Xen on the Cluster

While running The IND-Network Cluster, I try to test out different open source solutions to achieve a particular task and often, the experimentation spawns new projects.
In the past, I have been asked if I could host a cluster node on my network so that a user can have their own remote server.
It sounded quite a [...]

Free Monkey

While doing one of our regular shopping trips, we saw this box of tea containing a free monkey.
PG tips started in Manchester back in 1869 and during the 1950s the first PG tips ‘chimpanzees’ advert appeared featuring the ‘Tipps family’ with all the chimps dressed as humans and drinking tea.
One of these adverts, called ‘Mr. [...]

Electricity Brown Outs

With the advent of the discovery of global warming, the UK has gone into a mad frenzy to single handedly save the planet.
This little country is being driven by the media to reduce their energy emissions with the finger mainly pointing at the every day citizen to do their bit for the environment.
Although I do [...]
