Banks’s Barley Gold

bankssbarleygold.jpg

Oh I love my ales and tonight I have a few of these…

Because I come from the Heart of England, I love to sample the ales of the region. Growing up in places surrounded by Banks’s pubs and close to the Banks’s brewery in Wolverhampton, I have always had a soft spot for their Banks’s Original and Banks’s Bitter beers.

Brewed to a recipe over 100 years old using top quality english malted barley hops from Worcestershire, Heartfordshire and Kent, and the purest cane sugar imported from Africa and the Caribbean.

It comes as no surprise that when I spotted their Barley Gold about 2 years ago that I was hooked.

Double award winner at the International Brewing awards for 2 years running 2004 & 2005. Barley Gold is hearty, potent and warming strong ale.

This very strong ale is sold in a small 330ml can and also in a 275ml bottle and contains 9.1% alchohol by volume.
(3 UK Units per can - Please drink responsibly)

Unfortunately, it seems that this ale is only sold in and around the West Midlands area and I can’t seem to find anywhere that sells it online so it seems that the rest of the world will have to take my biased view that it tastes great.
